Community > Having Fun
At Stratford Street United Church, we work hard to make the world a better place, but that doesn't mean we don't also kick back and enjoy life together as well.

DEDICATION 8/30/2020
This child was dedicated into the faith and family of Jesus Christ. Best of all she danced while her grandparents and cousin sang at our Sunday gathering. She could feel the spirit! "STOP THE BLEED" 8/9/2020 Sunday 8/9/2020, we were trained by Micahel Yaffee and Samkyu Pai Yaffee (soon to be an eagle scout) on how to Stop the Bleed. Yes, Stop the Bleed. It is a national campaign that is just what it sounds like: how to stop traumatic bleeding. He delivered a stop the bleed kit to our church this week which is now in our pulpit. Very proud of Samkyu for seeing his project through during COVID! Thanks also to the many who showed up for training! May we never have to put our training into practice.
Easter Bonnet Contest 2020: Congratulations to all the deserving winners in the 1st Annual Easter Bonnet Extravaganza!

Open GymOften - and more so in the wintertime - we offer an open gym where kids of all ages can come to shoot hoops, play badminton, use our shuffleboard court, or just run in circles to blow off some energy.

BarbecuesBrats. Steak Tips. Burgers. Dogs. Sounds great, right? To us as well. In the summertime, we gather on the front lawn to enjoy some good BBQ as well as other libations to celebrate life, liberty, and the pursuit of the perfect burger.
|
Homecoming FeastEach year in September, we gather to celebrate all being back together again, as summertime travel and vacation plans means that you don't see the people that you typically see week in and week out. We use this opportunity to catch up since we last met, and of course to enjoy some great food.

Hanging of the GreensEarly December marks the beginning of Christmas season. It also marks the time when the children of Stratford Street United Church get together for pizza and the hanging of the greens; the time when we prepare our church for coming of our Savior. Fun is had by all attending this annual event.
|
|
Christmas PageantEach year, the children of Stratford Street United Church plan out an elaborate re-enactment of the birth for Jesus. Sometimes, grown-ups even get in on the show! Fun is had by all and it serves as a great way to reinforce the Christian beliefs in our children while allowing them to have some fun in the process.

Church PicnicsIn additions to BBQs, we also indulge in the occasional picnic at various parks or people's houses to enjoy time together and the warm summer sun.

|
Lunch CelebrationsSeveral times a year, we get together for more than just coffee hour after church; we get together for a full lunch. Whether it's before our annual meeting, with our friends who rent space from the church, or just because we can, no one ever leaves hungry!
